School Health Education

As part of their Slum Development Programme, basic health education is being imparted to the local schools to enhance the concept of good health.

Purpose:To develop rudimentary knowledge of the relationship between health behaviors and health, the basic structure and functions of the body, the influence of external factors on health, signs of illness, ways to prevent injury and illness among children, and basic health terms and concepts.

Outcomes:

Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention.

This education helps the children learn to develop good health behavior relationship between personal health behaviors and individual well-being.

Health problems interfere with students’ ability to come to school, stay in school, or make the most of their opportunity to learn. Schools, even those with limited resources, can do a great deal to improve student health and thus educational outcomes.
