Aadharana
Home
The devastation caused by the Tsunami affected
a number of children. Children who lost their parents, relatives
were on the streets after the heavy delusion, begging for food
and clothing, many became subject to the communicable diseases.
Their plight was observed by the organization
and with the help of a local NGO, SIDUR started a home with secure
for these children who are orphans and semi orphans below the
age group of 13 years. This paved way for starting a home for
these children called “Aadharana Home” in Machilipatnam.
There are 200 children presently residing. Here children are given
nutritional support, recreation, extra coaching for studies, medical
care, school education and also moral guidance and skills.
Most of the children do not go to school because
they belong to the fishermen community just about surviving on
meager income. Schools are not accessible meaning either they
are far away or there is no bus facility or they are unable to
afford schooling. Formal education, tuitions are also provided
to enhance their intellectual skills. Apart from this emotional
development and care like moral instruction, supervision and discipline,
a structured family-like environment, community life. Trusting,
fostering loving relationships is also included in the core curriculum.
Aadharana has now become a home away from home
for this less fortunate children and a hope to dream about a safe
and successful future.
