Project Strategies


BCC: BCC through behavior change communication different thematic groups are communicated on the risk that put them in contacting of STD/HIV infection and also to enable to practice new changed behaviour through linked up services such as STD treatments from qualified doctors & uninterrupted supply of condoms for regular and consistent use within enabling environment with of support of community members.

BCC material used as a tools are designed based on the needs assessment studies conducted for different thematic groups. These target specific materials cover entire risk practices and also influencing factors that put them under risk of contacting STD/HIV infections.

The common life time situations of these groups used in the BCC materials and are presented in story form in one to one and one to group and mass interactions with the target groups.

Reach of different target group through various BCC session an average 95% per annum.

STD Management:

STD Management are provide based on syndromic case management approach.

Steps involved in this approach are:

Case History
Counseling
Diagnosis based on signs and symptoms
Partner notification/ treatment
Condom promotion

All the identified cases through BCC sessions by staff, community and also self reported cases are provided treatment as per the NACO guidelines of medicine regimen procedures for STD management through SCM approach
SIDUR adopts four programme strategy for effective treatment.

1. Clinical setup.
2. Mobile setup
3. Medical Camps
4. Referral setup: Government and Private.

This approaches enabled effective STD management and to reduce identified and treatment ratio.

Percentage STD treatment indifferent thematic groups-Truckers-12%, Slum population-8%, Commercial Sex workers 42%, Street Children 17% and men sex with men 21%.

Condom Promotion:
To encourage safe sexual practices condom promotion and usage skill extensively carried out among the target group through BCC activities.

Condom distribution is managed by outlets manned by peer groups, community members, Doctors and unmanned outlet are placed at locations like public places like community halls, toilets, shopping centres, transport offices clinics etc.,

Condom promotion activities such as melas, events, games, exhibitions are conducted to familiarize the product and dispel any misconception among the target groups.
