Urban Community Development

SIDUR works in 150 slums in Hyderabad and Secunderabad areas. These slums are heterogeneous groups belonging to different caste, different religions, different economic and different professions.

SIDUR works in these slums on Health Education, Economic Programmes and Group Organisations. Education for Children between the age group of 5 to 14 years, and education for dropouts and adults.

Women are organised into groups and training is given from time to time to enable them to take up their community issues. They are also trained to plan, implement, and monitor the programmes.

Health is the most improvement issue in the community. They have no access to Government hospitals, they have quacks where they get exploited many times. SIDUR takes care of health component by giving them health education conducting health camps and also providing them with the medicines in clinics called Healthy Huts.

Self Help Groups were started in all the slums. They are trained and are working well so far. This enables them to raise loans within their community for lesser interest rate.
